Single Vision Lenses With Boost
Single vision lenses with a "power boost" are officially called anti-fatigue or enhanced single vision lenses. They are designed to provide extra support for your eyes during prolonged near-distance tasks, such as using digital devices or reading.
These lenses contain a standard single vision prescription for distance in the upper part of the lens, with a subtle increase in power in the lower portion. This mild "add" power helps relax the eye muscles, reducing eye strain and fatigue.

Who should consider power boost lenses?

Enhanced single vision lenses are an ideal solution for:
-
Young professionals who spend eight or more hours a day in front of digital screens.
-
Students with extensive reading or screen-based assignments.
-
Individuals who frequently switch between a phone, tablet, or computer.
-
Pre-presbyopes (typically in their late 30s to early 40s) who are just beginning to notice near-vision strain but don't yet need multifocal lenses.

Benefits of single vision lenses with power boost

-
Reduced eye strain: The mild power boost in the lower part of the lens reduces the accommodative effort needed for close-up focusing, leading to less eye fatigue.
-
Enhanced comfort: By minimizing the need for constant, intensive focusing, these lenses can help alleviate symptoms like headaches, dry eyes, and neck strain.
-
Easier adaptation: Compared to progressive lenses, the transition between distance and near vision is much more subtle, making the adjustment period quicker and easier.
-
Natural posture: Supporting the eye's focusing effort can help wearers maintain a more natural and comfortable head and neck posture when using digital devices
-
Best option is to have them with blue light filter. Blue/Violet light is produced naturally by the sun but also generated by computer monitors, smartphone screens, tablets and other digital devices. Even though it does have some beneficial effects, overexposure and too much blue/violet light at night especially can be harmful and lead to vision issues, eye strain and sleeping problems.
